I often tend to use this blog as a platform to A – obsess over style and design, B – provide creative content, and C – admit embarrassing personal facts about myself. I am okay with all of that and hopefully you are too. Today’s post is focused on C (mostly) and with a deep breath I am going to admit to you all that….. I am a total YouTube junkie.
While I don’t believe that watching beauty videos on YouTube is something that I should be ashamed of, I am worried to let you all in on how much time I spend doing it. Look at it this way: ‘A’ likes to play Xbox and Rachel likes to watch makeup tutorials on her laptop. Fair enough if you ask me.
I discovered the world of You Tube about 3-4 years ago when I was home sick in bed and I have been hooked ever since. In fact, if I had known then just how addicting the world of beauty videos would be, I would have been a little more cautious. Watching girls do their hair and makeup, gush about the latest blush, and run around their home town with a camera so we can all watch is somehow really entertaining; especially to a beauty loving lady like myself. Women are turning this ‘hobby’ into super successful careers and some are even launching their own products because of it.
Hey Claire: Claire Marshall is the result of the coolest chick in school and your down to Earth best friend smashing into each other and becoming one person. Her edgy style (including a sleeve on one arm) mixed with her simplistic, yet stunning, beauty makes you envy her and want to hang out with her. Good taste in music, a shoe collection to die for, and a killer sense of humor has me often clicking on her channel first when browsing my YouTube subscriptions.
Erica Fae: This lady is hands down on of my favorite style muses on You Tube. She also might be the sweetest personality you’ll see on the site. I have followed Erica for about a year now and have watched this girl get married and confess some of her darkest secrets. While she isn’t a makeup artist, she is a style maven and her lookbooks are, in my opinion, some of the on YouTube.
[note: Erica was diagnosed with limes disease and has recently struggled with her illness hence the lack of videos on her channel. I still encourage you all to watch her archives and support her getting back to her happy, healthy self!]
Jaclyn Hill: So, once you do get yourself setup on YouTube and you start scrolling through the beauty channels, you will start to realize just how many beauty vloggers actually exist in the world. However, if you are looking for someone to really educate you on the application of makeup, you must watch Jacklyn Hill. Yes she is gorgeous, yes she it hysterical, but girl is talented. I learn something new in each video Jaclyn puts out and consider her product recommendations gospel.
Nikkie Tutorials: I once had a friend to watch one of Nikkie’s videos and the first thing she said to me when the video ended was “Umm, she’s like you as a blonde.” This statement is so damn true. Aside from her incredible talents as a makeup artist, Nikkie is the ‘realist’ YouTuber out there. She has an incredible sense of humor and is not afraid to curse on camera (love it). I also love that she is from Holland!
Essie Button: Say hello to your new ‘girl next door’ bestie. While most of Estee’s channel is dedicated to beauty, she also has a lifestyle channel that she shares with her beau, Aslan (which I happen to love just as much as the beauty one). I also love watching her new life in England, where she moved 4 years ago. A few other reasons to love Estee: her willingness to be on camera with zero makeup, her adorable pup, Reggie, and her love for donuts.
Nicole Guerriero: This lady right here is an OG in the world of Beauty Vloggers. In fact, Nicole’s channel was my first introduction to YouTube and I have followed her religiously ever since. Sure she’s stunning and great at makeup, but Nicole’s real appeal is in her personality. When you watch her you immediately feel like you’re on Facetime with a bestie. She’s super funny and down to Earth so you never feel like you’re seeing anyone, but her true self.Pin It
