TV time can be quite limited when you have a busy schedule, but there is nothing like finding a few short hours within the week to sit down and do absolutely nothing. Problem is when you are so far removed the the world of television, it’s hard to know what you should spend those precious hours watching. Let us help you with that! Here are the shows we are watching this month.
It was actually Aaron who stumbled on the Viceland network and to be honest, we haven’t changed the channel much ever since. The network itself is very modern and relaxed in it’s approach which is refreshing. There are a ton of shows that we have been addicted to, but States of Undress is definitely my favorite. Two of my favorite things in life are fashion and travel. This show somehow manages to merge both of those words and does so in a really organic way. Host, Hailey Gates, is a bit quirky and also incredibly invested in each project she embarks on. I love her approach to the various cultures and envy her ability to try on some of the most stunning fashion around the World. Note: The Pakistan episode actually brought me to tears. Have tissues ready!
There was a lot of talk about Chefs Table when it first hit the Netflix catalog, but it wasn’t until recently that we actually gave it and shot. Needless to say our foodie-loving hearts are addicted. What you might expect from this show is a lot of talk about food and you wouldn’t be wrong; however, there is also an extensive glimpse into the lives of world-renowned chefs and how they became so respected in the industry. There’s a look at their life and their mission, their accomplishments and of course, their failures. It surprised me how much I enjoyed seeing their appreciation for food and how they turned their passion into a lifelong career. My favorite episode? The story of Italian chef Massimo Bottura.
It seems almost silly to put this show on here since one would think that everyone would already be head deep into Season 6, but I recently spoke to a few people who mentioned that they were not watching Game of Thrones. What? How? Why? Honestly, it doesn’t matter who you are or what your television taste is; you will love this show. There is an attachment that you will have to each one of the characters and the cliff hangers that happen in almost every episode will keep you wanting more. I don’t think I have ever loved and hated a show at the same time as much as I do this one. There are a lot of characters and story lines to follow, but I promise you by the end of the first episode you will be begging to know what happens next. You will also have a major crush on Khaleesi.
While Parks & Recreation is far from a new show (the series ended in 2014), it is a classic and when we saw Esquire airing (daily) reruns, we got sucked right back in. This show will make you feel all of the feelings. You will be laughing at April’s witty remarks, falling head over heels for the love between Leslie and Ben and you will definitely be wishing Ron Swanson was your boss. It has been quite some time since I have fallen for a scripted comedy on TV, but once I started the first episode of this show, I was hooked. I could also re-watch every episode endlessly and that’s speaking volumes. Having trouble finding the reruns on Esquire? Head over to Netflix where you can watch all of the seasons.
