While I have yet to share much about this topic here on the blog, I think it’s worth mentioning that I am engaged to be married. In fact, I have been engaged for quite some time. While Aaron and I are excited to legalize this thing, we have had a handful of things jump in our way (i.e. our two months traveling abroad). Finally though, we are ready to move forward with a wedding and I have made the decision to share my experience here on the blog because…why not?
I think it’s important to note that I am not your typical bride. Unlike most little girls, I have never been someone who dreams of that one special day. I never spent time imagining the perfect colors, dress, time of year or location. In fact, it wasn’t until after Aaron proposed that my cousin forced me to create a wedding board on Pinterest. With that being said, I can admit now that this will not be a traditional wedding. It will be a process where I will learn what I want as I go and one where things will likely be the opposite of the norm.
When I sat down to write this post, I jotted down a few ideas that I have for the wedding. Mostly, I wanted to capture my initial thoughts when thinking of our big day. Here’s my list:
From here I decided to turn the ideas in my head into a vision board so I could get some clarity on what I like. My hope is this vision board will help me when shopping for a location and vendors. For this step I turned to Pinterest – aka one of my favorite places on the internet. I know some people think Pinterest is old news, but I still visit the app daily and lean on it to inspire myself on all creative fronts. It was here that I was able to sift through the endless amounts of wedding styles and pull some of my favorites. Here is what I came up with:
Feel free to share you wedding tips with me in the comments and stay tuned as I continue to plan for the ‘small’ day.
