VEGAN RESOURCES

Since transitioning to a plant based diet, I have received a lot of questions from friends and family. While there has been quite an uptick in people going vegan, I am the only person I know eating this style of diet in my day-to-day life (with a few vegetarians in the mix). It makes sense then, that the people around me would have a lot of questions as to why and how I have eliminated animal products from my diet. (I am working on a post detailing my “why” so stay tuned for that). More recently, I have had a number of people reach out to me directly looking for resources as they start to test the water of a meat and/or dairy free diet. Some people are simply looking for recipes, while others want more on the science behind veganism. While I love having these conversations with people, I also thought it might be helpful to compile a list of resources that have helped me along my journey. This will be a list I continue to add to as I also explore the science and benefits behind eating a plant-based diet. I also encourage you to share any resources you may have in the comments below as I am always looking to learn more.

Before we get to the list…here’s something to keep in mind:
Everyone’s transition to veganism will look different: some might go cold-turkey while others may have a slower progression with a few ‘slip ups’ along the way.
No matter what your journey looks like, the more steps you take towards eating plant based, the better it will be for you, the animals and our environment. Start slow and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Remember, you are changing years and years of habits and while eating a vegan diet is a lot easier today than it was a few years ago, the convenience of animal-free options will not always be there. Even the smallest efforts make a big difference, so take things one day/meal at a time.
