I have been wanting to share a post relating to my favorite makeup removes for some time now. However, it was only when I started to compile my list that I realized how many cleansers I was using that were not vegan or cruelty free. This was upsetting considering how much I adore products like Clinque’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm and Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes & Face Wipes. Regardless of my love for these products, I promised myself that I would transition my beauty products to ones that are better for me, the animals and the environment.
It has taken me some time, but I have finally found a handful of makeup removers that are both vegan and amazing at removing the day’s worth of makeup from my skin. I can proudly say that I recommend any/all of these if you are looking to add a cruelty free option to your collection.
Bontanics is a brand that I have seen in Target and Walgreens and have always been curious about. It wasn’t until I learned that they were a vegan brand that I finally caved and picked up their 3 in 1 micellar cleanser. This product is definitely a new experience for me since I am used to a cleansing wipe, but this seriously cleans your skin and does so in the most gentle way. The alcohol-free formula allows you to remove makeup and dirt without leaving your skin tight/dry. In fact, this is the best no-rinse cleanser I have used to date.
As someone who is a die-hard fan of makeup removing wipes, I knew I had to find a replacement for the Neutrogena ones I was using. It took some time, but I finally found a cleansing wipe that removes my makeup and is gentle on my skin. Much like Bonataics, Derma-e is an affordable vegan brand that you can find at your local Target. These wipes have a fresh scent, doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and leave my skin with the perfect amount of hydration.
When I first saw the word lotion in this product’s name, I wanted to turn right around and never look back. A lotion to cleanse your skin? With this being said, I trust LUSH and have rarely been failed by their products. It’s downright shocking how well this stuff removes makeup and the added touch of almond oil leaves your skin super soft. There’s definitely some getting use to with this product, but I promise it’s worth the try!
When researching vegan and cruelty free skincare products, I kept coming across this makeup remover. With so many positive reviews, I couldn’t resist taking this for a spin. Without a doubt, this product can remove the most stubborn of eye makeup including waterproof mascara. I will say that I prefer to use this on my eyes and then use a cleanser to clean the rest of my face, but overall this stuff works really well and lives up to the hype.
Juice Beauty has been a favorite of mine for years and it’s been so nice coming back to their products. While they are more high-end than the others on this list, this cleanser is awesome for those with sensitive, yet problematic skin. There is a reason so many people rave about this cleanser. It removes all the makeup and grime from your skin while leaving you with a velvet-like smooth feeling. It is also really great if you are looking to clear up a breakout (and keep it away). I also highly recommend their stem cellular cleansing oil as a makeup remover.
