Alright so before I start going on and on about shorts for the summer and how obsessed I am with the neutral palette of white, gray, and black; let me add a disclaimer. It is sort of odd posting this as I personally don’t wear shorts that often…if ever. I know I know – so what the hell am I doing posting information on this summer’s short trends? Well simply put, I do love me a good short, but now and days it is so hard to find shorts that (in my opinion) actually fit the body. So before we begin let’s start with this:
Look, we get it…some of you women out there have the ‘perfect’ body with long Gisele like legs that could stretch the span of Mexico. Yes I am jealous, but no I am not mad. In fact, I am actually fully supportive of women loving what they have and wearing it proud. However, there seems to be some confusion when it comes to wearing shorts and determining how much is too much…no wait, it should be how little is too little. So, in the event that you are ever concerned that maybe your shorts are too short or that they may not fit you, remember this: If at any point you (or the general public) can see so much of your butt cheek that you start to confuse the short itself with your underwear…..they are too short. If while walking your shorts start to ride up so high that they become an alternate bikini bottom, well….those don’t fit you.
So now that we know how to properly wear a short, let’s go head first into these amazing styles. Although some may call it boring, I promise you there is nothing better than a crisp clean line of a neutral short. Styles, like the ones above, are signature pieces that will help you achieve multiple looks all summer long. You can dress each item up with a beautiful classy top, or you can even pull the casual card and half-tuck a firm t-shirt into them. I just happen to have a weak spot for the classic black, white, and gray colors, but if a royal blue short starts knocking on your door – get them! Don’t forget to test different fabrics like lace and wool, or different cuts like pleats and high waisted. It may not be easy, but eventually you will find the color and the cut that’s just the right fit for you.
