It has happened to all of us. We spend hours packing our suitcase only to arrive at our destination missing our favorite moisturizer. How about the time you were running late getting ready for work and realized your eyebrow pencil is empty?
These mishaps happen to the best of us, but they most certainly do not have to be the end of us. There are endless amounts of beauty hacks out there and you are doing yourself an injustice to not know how to save yourself from the dreaded “I’m out of…” moment. So, for the times that your girlfriends aren’t there to rescue you with a backup, here are some beauty hacks that will save you when you run out of something.
Hands down my new favorite skincare product is beauty oil. The benefits of these oils is endless and they have done wonders for my skin the past few months. So, whenever I find myself at the bottom of my moisturizer, I don’t even bat an eye; I just grab my beauty oil and start hydrating. Because beauty oils are more concentrated, you want to use 2-4 drops (depending on your skin type) and be sure to press the oil gently into the face and neck. This will ensure that the oil penetrates the surface of your skin and gives you the ultimate hydration. (Hint: extend the life of your moisturizer by cutting it with some beauty oil daily.)
Dry shampoo has become the my new bestie and is essential when attempting to style second (or third) day hair. There is nothing worse than the feeling that I have when I go to spray my roots only to be met with an empty can of air. So what is an oily head of hair to do when you run out of dry shampoo? Rummage through those bathroom cabinets and find some baby powder. Lift the hair in sections to expose the roots and sprinkle a small amount of powder throughout each section. Let the powder sit for 30-60 seconds and then massage the powder into the roots. Once the oil has faded, brush the hair from root to ends and style. Brunettes: be sure that you have thoroughly brush the powder and there is no white residue remaining.
Ever find yourself in front of the mirror only to be faced with the four gray hairs that you are so sure are just a serious shade of blonde? Do not fret! You do not need to whip out a full box of hair color to cover these bad boys. Just go into your makeup collection and grab the closest shade of eye shadow. Take a fluffy shadow brush and blot the color into the hair. You can also use this method if you find your hairline to be a little sparse. Be sure to blot the color into the desired area; this will make it look more natural than swiping the color in strokes.
It almost seems impossible that I would not have a lipstick (or 5) on me at all times; however, if you ever find that your favorite pink hue is down to the bottom of the barrel – there is a safety net for you. Start by pressing your favorite blush color into your lips until you have the color payoff you are looking for. Next, add a thin layer of lip balm onto your lips. Want to go for a matte lip? Add another soft layer of blush on top of the balm.
This may be a beauty hack, but I actually use this method all the time; especially in the summer. Hairspray can often do a better job holding down those eyebrow hairs than most brow gels so if you ever find yourself in need of some extra hold, grab your favorite hairspray and a spoolie. After filing in your brows like you normally do, spray some hairspray onto the spoolie (you can also use your finger if you find yourself without a spoolie) and while the hairspray is still wet, brush over your eyebrows. It’s that simple and I promise it will lock those hairs down all day.
