I hate to admit this, but the real reason there was no Motivational Monday yesterday is because I had off from work and in turn, took off from life. Aside from some food shopping and caring for the puppy, I did pretty much nothing yesterday…. and it felt great! I am fully aware that life is about to get a bit crazy for me so I am taking advantage of any opportunity that I can just sit back and relax. I am also working to incorporate more relaxing components into my daily life so that even when my days are packed with a million and one things, I still take the time to chill out.
Here are a few of my favorite ways to relax:
Reading has always been a bit of a sanctuary for me. Even when I was younger I would often spend time just curled up in my room with a book in hand. Now, I live to have an extra hour in the day for some quality reading. There is just something so relaxing about having the words of a book take you into another world. In fact, reading is often the one thing that will completely free my mind of all worry for a period of time.
There really isn’t anything that can change my mood like music can. I have always been a big music-buff and as mentioned previously, I often wish that I had a soundtrack of music actually playing in my life (yup, just like in the movies). At any moment a single song can calm me down from a rough day or hype me up to hit the treadmill.
Usually when I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed I automatically go into hibernation so I can be alone and sort things out. This can be beneficial at times; however, I have found that nothing gets me in a good mood like hanging out with my friends. I have lucked out big time since my crew has zero drama and loves to laugh so there is no better relaxation than hanging out with them. Whether it’s drinks with the girls or game night at my place, my besties are without a doubt the ultimate food for my soul.
This tip is my favorite….and the most delicious option! I can’t remember exactly when my obsession with tea began, but I do know that my affinity for a nice cup of hot tea has only grown over the years. A few years ago I turned my attention to the world of coffee and while I still do love me good brew from Starbucks, I am back in love with the world of tea. Not only is tea calming, but it is also has a slew of health benefits for your mind and body!
