Although I have not been pinning as much as I used to (the Pinterest Gods would not be happy with me), I recently ventured back onto the boards and stumbled on this stunning trend from DailyLook’s Pinterest Account. What other way to bring in the fall season than pairing a bold print with subtle accessories?
You know I love prints/patterns; you also know I love accessories. There is no questions that I am completely smitten by this new trend. In fact, I am sure that fall will be filled with beautiful prints and textures…at least in my closet. It can be intimidating to rock a textured top or a bold aztec inspired skirt, especially when it comes to pairing the piece with other pieces. It can be just as unnerving when trying to accessorize the outfit. Here are a few tips to help you achieve polished looks like these from DailyLook.
Don’t Overkill On Patterns: I’m not gonna say that you can never pair one pattern or texture piece with another, but it’s tricky. The easiest way to go is to pair off your bold pattern or colorful piece with a neutral: a printed blouse with a clean and neutral pencil skit. Mixing the neutrals with the look will make the outfit look put together versus looking like you put on the scraps from a Heatherette collection.
Skip The Bold Accessories: Again, bold jewelry can work with busy clothing, but if you are overwhelmed with what necklace will work, opt for the simple pieces (like the photos above). Classic gold bracelets or even a delicate necklace will always complete a look no matter what outfit.
Layer Away: Whether it’s pairing stacked bracelets with knuckle rings or by piling on a few dainty necklaces, layering gives the appearance of a ‘statement’ accessory without actually using chunky/bold jewelry. Layering also can give the look a little more depth and style. Using simple accessories also gives you the option to wear lots of pieces without looking overdone.Pin It
