I apologize for the delay in this week’s Motivational Monday, but I have been busy trying to stay dry! Seriously Mother Nature – turn the water works off.
I’d like to start this week’s motivation with a huge thank you to everyone. In my head, turning 30 was going to be this horrific hurdle that I would never be able to climb over, but really it was just this day that was filled with love from my closest friends and family. My people put so much thought and effort into making sure that my big day was special and I don’t know that there are enough words to express my gratitude. From a surprise party, to the best cake ever, to the gracious gifts that I received – there was so much joy that came my way, my damn cheeks hurt from smiling.
It’s interesting enough because Thanksgiving is right around the corner and after a weekend like this one, I feel like I could spend hours just writing out everything I am thankful for. Maybe I am jumping the gun on this post (it seems more appropriate for next week), but I want to address the things I am thankful for and acknowledge how grateful we should all be for the things we have because as they say ‘it could always be worse.’
The ever influential Oprah Winfrey is famous quoted as saying “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” Because we are human, we all crave materialistic things and covet what other people have, but there are always times where you have to sit back, look around you, and appreciate everything that is within your existing life.
I have decided that I will spend a moment each day being thankful for the things around me. I want to encourage myself to be grateful and appreciative every day for everything I have – including the opportunity I have to achieve more. Not everyone gets to have this in life and it is important to openly acknowledge that.
Feel free to share what you are thankful for and tips on how you stay grateful!Pin It
