Well well Monday, we meet again – and all too soon if you ask me! I guess I can’t complain that this weekend went by too quickly if the reason it went so quickly is because it was filled with really good times (& good people). We spent this weekend celebrating A’s birthday with his family, my family, and our friends. All I’m saying is I better get a whole weekend full of birthday fun too!
Today I want to lightly touch on the topic of love. Don’t worry – I promise not to overkill your Monday with sappiness, but I think this is a good topic to bring to the table, especially considering my past few weeks. I have experienced so many forms of love this past month and lately I have been relishing in the love surrounding me.
From losing a very close friend to celebrating birthdays, emotions have been high. It hash’t necessarily been the easiest time to get through, but seeing what love can do to people has made me view this emotion in such a different way. So, I decided to do a little research on love and find the best way to represent it. In doing so, I landed on a quote by author Robert A. Heinlein who defines love as a “condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” At first this was an odd concept to me because we should all be entitled to happiness regardless of anyone else, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense.
I remember watching my best friend speak about his late wife and all the love he still has in his heart for her. Immediately my own emotions turned into this mournful expression of love. In the same respect, watching A open gifts and laughing with his family & friends this weekend brought an overwhelming sense of happiness to me. So, I guess in the end the happiness of others can very well inflict a sense of love within us all. With this being said, let’s dedicate this week to showing others how much we love them by sharing some very happy moments.
