Happy Monday you beautiful creatures! So I know that this quote may seem like quite the contradiction to my normal ‘dream big and chase a better you’ post, but trust me on this one!
Recently I fell into a deep conversation with one of my besties about life and where we stand in it. The entire conversation was this long winded complaint about where we aren’t in life and all the things we need to do, places we want to go, and people we want to become. The more time I spent blabbing about all the wants in my life, the more I realized how first world my problems are. Towards the end of our conversation I stepped outside of the discussion and looked at us. Two smart, hard working, fun, independent (not to mention stunning) women sitting at a table complaining about their lives. Something’s wrong here.
The irony in the conversation between my friend and I is that the two girls at the table wouldn’t even know each other if it were’t for where their lives stand right now and considering the tight friendship, that’s a lot to take in. In fact, when I think about, there are a lot of people and events in my life that wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for some of the not-so-great positions I have been in. Example: if I never slaved myself for some of my horrific former employers (insert slight exaggeration), I would not have met some of the coolest people in the world (also known as my friends). What I’m getting at is the idea that even when times are tough and we work at a sucky job, when we live in a crappy apartment, when we go through a bad relationship; these moments matter. They mean something and they define why we are in the place we are in our life.
Now hear me when I say that you do not have to stay in one spot. You don’t have to endure negative environments or people, but you should acknowledge that maybe you are where you are because you are supposed to be. You better keep dreaming and reaching for your goals. Just know that maybe all the places you go to along the way are just pit stops to your happy place.Pin It
