Ok so let’s start like this: I love Beyonce. This is not your normal love. This is the I want to be you, be friends with you, and maybe be JayZ so I can marry you type of love. With that being said, I really couldn’t help myself when it came to using this quote for today’s Motivational Monday. Not only is there some insight to the words, but any chance I can convince myself that there is a way of being just like B, I take it.
Some of you may already know that there has been a lot going on in this crazy life of mine lately. Some good things, and some not so good things. With all of these changes happening, I haven’t had much time (or much focus) to really work on the things that I had planned on putting my energy towards this year. There’s work, some sort of an attempt at a healthy lifestyle, friends, family, this budding blog, and of course shopping. I just can’t do it all!
So what just happened up there in that paragraph above this one….yeah, that was me making excuses. We all love to do this; to find any reason in the world that we cannot do the things that we need to do. In fact, if I could get paid for giving some sort of reason I didn’t make it to the gym, couldn’t finish a blog post, or HAD to buy that new leather Alexander Wang clutch, I would have one hell of a bank account. So why the excuses? Why not own that we were just lazy and didn’t feel like driving to the gym just to hop on a treadmill and jog for an hour? Well, because it makes us feel better and to be honest, that’s not such a bad thing.
The real problem with making these excuses is that sometimes we make ones that limit us in life. Sometimes the excuse keeps us from creating deeper relationships with others and sometimes they restrict us from acting on those big dreams we have. That’s just not right. You can’t let those excuses run your life girl! So let’s take this week to acknowledge the moments when we could be doing something we should be, but are covering it up with a reason not to. Next time you’re too busy to call your mom, too overwhelmed to actually plan that amazing trip, or are just too tired to start working on the rest of your life, just remember the time Mrs. Carter made an entire album, a music video for each track and released it in the most remarkable fashion. That should be all the encouragement you need.Pin It
