Welcome back my loves! It’s Monday yet again and here we are getting motivated together. It was another busy, yet amazing weekend for me. In fact, I’m actually starting to feel like I need a weekend in order to recover from my weekend. Now all I have to do is get this setup approved by my employer…..
This week’s motivational post is all about this photo. I came across this simple (yet stunning) picture and just felt compelled to write about the saying. There was just something about the quote matched with the epic style of the photo that moved me. As someone who is often thinking of the ‘bigger and better’ in life, the idea of anchoring myself to anything or anyone can be overwhelming. Not to say I don’t appreciate the things I have already, but this ambitious nature of mine has me on a constant search for what else is out there. I am always thinking about what else can I achieve in life, in my relationships, and of course in my career. So how do I get my zealous personality to even think about settling into something?
The answer lies in the quote itself. It’s not that we should anchor ourselves by settling (a pretty big fear of mine), but to find something special that we can commit ourselves to. This my friends, is the real trick. By definition anchor is “a person or thing that provides stability or confidence in an otherwise uncertain situation.” That does’t sound to shabby, huh? I immediately replaced anchoring with settling when in reality anchoring is really more about creating a stability in something important.
After getting rid of the settling idea that was in my head, I read the quote over again and immediately got this serious, yet romantic vibe from the words. I started to think about all of the special things that I have in my life as well as all of the possibilities that are around me. All of the sudden I started to realize how important it is that I commit myself and invest myself in these important moments/relationships. With all of this being said, your homework for this week is to find something special in your life and place your own anchor in it. Look for the things that move you the most in your life and consider the ways that you can appreciate whatever/whoever it is.
