“People always ask me, ‘You have so much confidence. Where did that come from?’ It came from me. One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl….It doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see.” ~Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe~
Happy Monday party people! So this happens to me a lot: I have a whole concept laid out for Motivational Monday and right before I go to revise and publish the post, I see something so perfect, I just have to write about it.
Scrolling through Tumblr this evening I stumbled upon this incredible photo of the one and only Gabby Sidibe. Even more impressive than the photo was the quote that came with it. The topic of beauty is one that is open to debate. As they say: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is true because you just can’t define beauty in physical terms. Trust me, you can’t. While one person might be searching for the blonde hair blue eyed barbie, another person might be hunting for a short brunette with green eyes and thick thighs. The real question is can you really define beauty on the inside as well?
Who decides what qualities in a person make them beautiful on the inside or on the outside? YOU do! Ms. Sidibe is onto something here when she tells you that it doesn’t really matter who thinks your pretty or what parts of you other people enjoy the most. Sure, it’s great when you best friend or boyfriend gushes about all your best features. But, what really matters in this life you lead, is that you make the decision that you are fabulous and then run with it. There is always room for improvement within ourselves and by no means am I encouraging people to get cocky with it, but can we all take this Monday to give ourselves a little pat on the back. We all deserve a little love today. So get up, walk to the nearest mirror and check out that babe looking back at you because she/he is drop dead gorgeous.Pin It
