Good Morning ladies and gentlemen. I want to say happy Monday, but it’s pouring rain outside and that doesn’t make me so happy, so let’s stick with the standard ‘Good Morning,’ shall we?
Speaking of happy, I was reading through some of my older Motivational Monday posts and noticed that a majority of them are about making myself happy. Now I am a firm believer that you can only be truly happy with others until you are happy from within. BUT, since we have been working on the interior of ourselves lately, why not shed some happiness to those around us? Think about it….most of the people in your life are there for a reason and if they are not there for a good reason, then your real task is to reconsider their purpose in your life. Why not use some of the energy we typically spend on ourselves and try to shed some happiness to those around us? Oh, and remember the rule you learned as a child about not talking to strangers? Through that out the window too (feel free to use some discretion with this).
This morning on my way to work a woman started talking my ear off about it being Monday morning and how she was not happy to go into work. For a second I thought to myself “well lady, join the club.” Then I considered that maybe she has a really mean boss who yells at her a lot, maybe she is going through a tough time in her life, or maybe she just needs someone to hear her vent so she can get whatever it is off her chest. I decided to toss my own feelings aside and add a little witty humor into the conversation and guess what? I got a good laugh out of her. Making her laugh actually made me feel like maybe I had helped her morning start out on a better foot. Sure, her day might still turn out crappy, but at least for that very moment she got a good laugh out of something I said.
Moral of the story: try to use this Motivational Monday as a stepping stone to making a few people smile today. You never know, someone might do the same for you!Pin It
