Let me start this post by saying I am not really a big fan of Valentine’s Day. That’s right..I am one of the Valentine’s haters who complains that the day is just a commercial holiday driving money out of sappy couples. I guess there’s just something in me that doesn’t fall for the generic ‘tell me you love me by buying me some overpriced red roses and sappy Hallmark card because this holiday told you to do so.’ In fact, the last Valentine’s Day I spent with someone I forced him to take me to a local bar and we took in a Sixers game over some beers. Now that’s romance.
Even in all my anti lovey-dovey glory, I must admit that there is a little part of me (way deep down of course) that does like knowing that my special someone is thinking of me and trying to put a smile on my face. However, the way to this girl’s heart is not by cluster of thorny roes. In fact, I will sooner gush over an arrangement of wild flowers then I will for any red concoction thrown together by 1-800-Flowers.
So, in the spirit of Valentin’s Day I have decided to post some real Valentine’s Day inspired flowers. One’s that will have the insides of a Valentine’s Scrooge like myself flutter.
