‘A’ and I have officially hit the five month mark in the new place and I have to say, it’s starting to feel like home. Moving was a big adjustment for me: first time living with a significant other and having to move to a whole new state. While I thought that it would be a big, scary ordeal, I will admit that so far things have been moving along pretty smoothly.
One of the biggest tasks that ‘A’ and I have in front of us is finishing the furnishings. I lucked out (big time) on nabbing myself a man that allows me to design and style freely around the home. So for me, the bigger task was creating the chic layout I have been dreaming of while keeping it a little masculine for him.
I have been wanting to share some of our progress on the home decor with you all so I figured now is a better time than any. First up: dining room. Our dining room originally consisted of one dark cranberry painted wall and a very “interesting” nod to the ’80’s in the form of a Tiffany Lamp (see above.) I will admit that I can find a modest amount of charm in this existing light fixture, but just not enough for me to continue staring at it for the next year or two. So, down it goes and now on to the hunt for a replacement.
As with everything else in life, the things I like the most style wise are often the most expensive. Sure, I want to only pay $100 for a light fixture, but my eyes keep landing on the $1,000 one. Here are some of my favorite high-end options:
Now, we already know I will not be buying a light fixture that has a bunch of zeros in the price tag. Therefore, I had to get realistic and challenge myself to find equally beautiful choices for under $100. Here’s what I came up with:
