A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of attending a meetup hosted by Igers_Philly (a Philadelphia based Instagram community) at the Top of the Tower on Arch Street. Even having lived in Center City for years, I had never been to this highly talked about location. All I can say is – I was missing out.
Top of the Tower is the 50th Floor of a skyscraper in Center City Philadelphia (photo of building above) with views to die for. On top of this high rise you can see some of the most iconic spots of the city including the bridges over to New Jersey and the infamous William Penn resting on City Hall. I love my city and I love architecture so this event was everything my camera and I could dream of.
Quick Disclaimer: The event was a popular one so the balcony was pretty crowded with people; therefore, I was limited to the number of angles/views I could get.
A and I stayed at the event until sunset in order to capture a few ‘sun hitting the skyscraper’ photos. I loved how the yellow and orange hues from the sun grazing over the city. I have always said that Philly is prettiest at night, but I think watching the sun hit the skyline right as it was about to drop changed my mind completely.
By far, my favorite shot was this panoramic view of the city which included a heavy cloud covering the Parkway.
