In my recent endeavor to try and live a more healthy lifestyle I have been taking on some baby steps that I can incorporate into my routine of life. Things like taking daily vitamins, eating an actual breakfast and actually using the appliances in my kitchen for cooking (rather than having them just sitting there on display), have actually helped me drop a few lbs! More importantly, they have allowed me to focus on a change in my lifestyle versus just a soon-to-be-failed New Years resolution.
Recently added to my regimen is a morning workout. Believe it or not, I actually used to be a nighttime workout-er. I know it;s hard to believe, but I was one of those weirdos that was able to come home, relax, eat dinner, get some stuff done and then drag myself off to the gym. Well as time goes on….so does my nighttime desire. Now getting me up and out of the house after 8pm is a true effort that requires a lot of internal debate. So, with that being said, I have decided to start working out first thing in the morning and although it has been one hell of a challenge getting up an hour earlier each day, I really have seen some improvements!
I don’t know about all of you, but Yoga has always been a very intimidating thing for me to watch. I guess I have always thought that in order to bend yourself into the pretzel pose that Yoga requires you need to be A- 25lbs or less and B- missing half the bones in your body. However, I may have altered my opinion about Yoga. I recently found this ‘Good Morning’ Yoga sequence on Pinterest (thanks to the wonderful Tales From The Yoga Mat blog) and have been loving every part of it. Even when throwing myself into a cardio session in the morning, I just start the exercise off with these stretchy poses and I feel much more awake and focused on the day ahead!
